Eyeliner can completely change your look and appearance and make you look amazing, so it is a pivotal part of any beauty lover’s makeup routine. However, as amazing as eyeliner looks, it often smudges after a while, and then you go from looking amazing, to looking like a panda and a raccoon 🐼. So, to help you extend the beautiful eye makeup that you spent so much time putting together, I am going to share with you four methods that help reduce smudging from eyeliner.
4 Hacks/Tricks To Prevent Eyeliner From Smudging
Hack #1: Apply Liquid Liner
Apply liquid liner on top of your eyeliner. This always works for me. When I know that I will be out for many hours, or if I plan to go out dancing or clubbing, I always apply a liquid liner on top of my eyeliner. This helps prevent my eyeliner from smudging for many hours, and when it does smudge, it tends to smudge very little, and usually only on the outermost part of my lower lash line.
Hack #2: Apply An Eyeliner Sealer/Sealant
Apply an eyeliner sealer/sealant on top of your eyeliner. This will help seal your eyeliner in place so that it stays on your eyes for hours. An eyeliner sealer will help reduce how quickly your eyeliner smudges, and it will help prevent it from fading away throughout the day.
Hack #3: Apply Translucent Setting Powder
This is one of my favorite methods to smudge-proof my eyeliner. I will coat my eyes with a translucent setting powder where I intend to apply my eyeliner. If I am applying eyeliner to both my upper and lower lash line, I will apply the translucent setting powder to both of these areas. Then, on top of the line that I drew on my upper lash line at the outer corner, I will apply an extra layer of translucent setting powder to reinforce it further, since this area tends to smudge the most and the fastest.
Translucent setting powder is the method that I use most often to set my eyeliner. It is a great fast method for work and day-to-day activities.
Hack #4: Apply Eyeshadow
Apply an eyeshadow that is the same color as your eyeliner on top of your eyeliner. I find that this does reduce how quickly my eyeliner smudges throughout the day, but it does not prevent smudging as effectively as liquid liner or an eyeliner sealer does. So, I mostly only apply eyeshadow on top of my eyeliner when I am using an eyeliner that is not black, since almost all of my liquid liners are only in black shades.
