Product Review: CANMAKE Glow Twin Color Eyeshadow, Base, and Highlighter Duo – Japanese Makeup and Cosmetics

Hello everyone! It is time for another Japanese cosmetic review. There are many popular well-known Japanese brands. Some of the ones that have gained great popularity are Kate, Majolica Majorca, Shiseido, Cezanne, Shu Uemura, Dolly Wink, Daiso, Canmake, and SK-II. Out of all of these brands, Canmake is one of the most affordable ones; it is also the one that is all over Amazon, and which is one of the easiest to find, so I decided to purchase some of their makeup to test out. So in today’s review, I will review their Glow Twin Color Eyeshadow Duo.

Cost: $9.99 – $21.00, depending on where you buy it.

These eyeshadows are made in Japan.

Shades: There are three shades available: White Beige, Cherry Blossom Lavender (This is the shade that I purchased for this review), and Pink Beige Pearl.

Brand Promises: Canmake states that this dual-color eyeshadow palette will add sparkle, and it can be used in different ways. It can be used as an eyeshadow, as an eyeshadow base, and as a highlighter. These eyeshadows are supposed to have high-luminosity pearl particles that will brighten, correct imperfections, and radiate the face, which will also remove dullness and make the eyes look more lively, clear, and beautiful.

How Do These Eyeshadows Look On The Eyes?

Top Light Shimmer Beige Shade

Bottom Light Shimmer Purple Shade

The beige shade looks white with and without primer, so there is no real color payoff with it. The light purple shade is true to color since it has the slightest hint of purple on the eyes and it looks like it does in the packaging.

Both of these eyeshadows are meant to be used as a base, as an eyeshadow, and as a highlighter, but due to the lack of true color payoff, the beige shade can only be used as a highlighter or base, but the light purple shade can be used as all three. However, as a highlighter, these shades are mild and light in color as well. If you want a gentle highlight, then these will work perfectly, but if you want a bam in your face kind of highlight, then these may not work for you.

Application: These eyeshadows were easy and fast to apply, though both will need to be layered a few times to get the best pigmentation possible. The light purple shade also does not pick up well with a makeup brush, so I had to use my fingers with this shade. The beige shade, however, worked well when applied with fingers and a makeup brush.

Final Thoughts

I have mixed feelings about this eyeshadow duo. On one hand, the light purple shade can be used in all the ways that the brand intended it to be used. This light purple shade is also a very gentle sweet shade that I think will appeal to people who like natural soft makeup styles.

On the other hand, the beige shade can not be used as an eyeshadow, so it can not be used in all the ways that the brand intended. Perhaps the beige shade would show up on light skin tones, but I am still disappointed that the light purple shade has no color payoff unless you pair it with an eye primer. I personally feel that a good eyeshadow will be very pigmented with and without eye primer and regardless of one’s skin tone, so I think that the quality of both of these eyeshadows could be better.

One good thing about this eyeshadow duo is that both of these eyeshadows can be used as bases and as highlighters. Given that one of the two eyeshadows can be used in all the ways that the brand intended, this review is not a total fail. However, I still do not recommend this eyeshadow duo to you all since the quality could be better.
