Hello everyone! Recently I decided to try a new hair product by a famous brand that has been around for a long time, called Farouk Systems. This brand’s BioSilk Line is quite popular, and they are considered salon professional hair care. So today, let’s see if all the hype surrounding this brand is valid. To do this, I will test out their BioSilk Hair Gel to see how well it performs.
Cost: $12 – $20, depending on where you buy it.
Amount of Product: 6 fl ounces, 150 ml.
Ingredients: This hair product is made with around 10 ingredients, two of which are rosewater (this is the first ingredient) and hydrolyzed silk protein. This hair gel also contains fragrance (parfum), but it does not have an artificial scent; it has a clean scent that is very light and mild.
Brand Promises: Farouk Systems promises that their hair gel will protect and improve the condition of the hair, make the hair look healthier, and add extreme shine while allowing the hair to have mobility and flexible hold.
How I Applied This Hair Gel
I applied the Farouk Systems hair gel to wet hair that I had separated into four sections. I applied a hair detangler and one mild leave-in conditioner before applying this hair gel. I did not apply anything else to my hair; no oil, glosses, or shine serums. I combed out my hair to detangle it, then I blow-dried each section of hair for about five minutes. Lastly, I applied this hair gel to each section of hair, braided it, and went to bed to let it air dry the rest of the way while I slept.
Results With This Hair Gel
I absolutely love how my hair came out with this hair gel! This hair gel did everything that the brand promised. My hair was shiny, not extremely shiny though, but it had natural shine. My hair was moisturized nicely so that it looked healthy and well-managed, even without oil. My hair had amazing mobility and moved beautifully! The curls had lift, bounce, and although there was some frizz, my hair looked thick, was not weighed down, and looked smoothed out. My hair came out lovely, and the hold lasted until the next time I washed my hair a few days later.
There are two downsides to this hair gel, however. The first is shrinkage. There is a lot of shrinkage with this hair gel. My hair has grown out quite a bit and normally reaches my shoulder blades when I wear it in a ponytail, but with this hair gel, it shrunk to my neck, so shrinkage reduced the length to almost half. So, if you are someone who is bothered by a lot of shrinkage, then this product will not work for you.
The other downside to this hair gel is that it does not maintain a hold on curly, frizzy, or unruly hair when exercising. The very first day that I exercised after doing my hair with this hair gel, my hair looked horrible! So, exercise undoes the effects of this hair gel. On the second day after doing my hair with this hair gel, I had to refresh my hair again that night, and every day after exercising while this hair gel was still in my hair. So, if you exercise daily and have naturally curly hair as I do, then I recommend reserving this hair gel for those special occasions when you want to go out and look good, and you know you will not be exerting yourself physically.
Final Thoughts
This hair gel is excellent, and it does make the hair look healthy; it moisturizes the hair; it makes the hair look naturally shiny without being intense; it smooths the hair, and it adds body, thickness, and mobility. This hair gel performed the way the brand said it would, and more; it went beyond my expectations. The price is excellent for how it makes the hair look, and it is truly a high-quality affordable product that does give salon-quality results! If you have never tried the Farouk Systems Hair Care products, then I highly recommend giving them a try!
So many people are oblivious to the fact that fast growth shampoos (obviously without any sulfates, parabens or DEA) even exist. Hair styling enthusiasts now may enjoy longer hair and attain more possibilities. Certainly worth reading.
When you’re addressing hair loss, hair damage, preventing hair disorders, fast hair growth, hair care normally, the same rules become relevant.
Generally, you want to avoid hair treatments and products that include chemicals such as parabens, DEA and sulfates.
What is good for your hair is healthy for your skin as well.
