This page is designed to serve as a mental health resource page for you and your loved ones who may be suffering with psychiatric mood disorders and psychotic disorders. We will focus heavily on learning disorders and impairment, ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia, as well as a few other mental disorders.
This resource page will contain information on the causes and links to several mental health disorders that researchers have discovered that you are likely unaware of, and will be very shocked by. When you understand the causes of an illness, you can have more success improving and managing it. Given all that Barbara Frank and I know about mental disorders, we do consider ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia to be easier disorders to manage. This means that having these disorders doesn’t mean that you can’t live a healthy lifestyle and experience the same wonderful things that other people do; You can still prosper, be happy, take better control of your life, and have successful relationships with others. The secret lies in understanding your lifestyle habits that may have caused the disorder(s) to develop and advance and to make some changes to your life to help manage your mental health and increase your overall sense of wellness. When you take proper care of your health and prioritize your mind and body, anything is possible!
Linked Causes and Connections To ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Mental Illness That You Didn’t Know About
Low Oxygen Levels and Mental Illness
Thanks to the Pandemic, the world has become more aware of the impact of oxygen on human life and survival in a whole new way. Just as you can stop breathing without oxygen, low levels of oxygen can also lead to bodily harm and mental illness. The reason this happens is because mental illness stems in the brain, and when the brain does not get enough oxygen, brain cells die and there is brain tissue loss and neurotransmitter imbalances. It has been found that people with schizophrenia can have more brain tissue loss over time than normal people without schizophrenia, so there is a link to low levels of oxygen and schizophrenia.
I did a Google search on the effect oxygen has on neurotransmitter imbalances since neurotransmitter imbalances are commonly found in mental illness. These are the results that Google returned to me.
Neurotransmitter imbalances in the brain cause mood swings and impaired cognitive function, which are common in psychiatric and psychotic mental disorders. So there is a connection between low oxygen levels and mental illness development.
Have you noticed that since the Pandemic came people seem much more violent, aggressive, and confrontational than they used to be? It is so much harder now to meet and befriend people because of this aggression and an overall lack of trust. Anyone you meet could become a danger to you or they could get violent over the simplest things. I find that I see acts of aggression often when I go out, whether people are arguing in public, being rougher than is normal with their children, or people are being abusive towards someone around them.
I went to the mall two days ago and watched a woman scream at a disabled wheelchair-bound woman in the food court until that disabled woman started crying. She was so loud when she was screaming at her that people came over and intercepted the confrontation. But these incidents seem quite common now. People seem much more aggressive than they were before the Pandemic. This can be connected to the fact that COVID negatively affects oxygen levels, which is why people with COVID can suddenly stop breathing and die; These low oxygen levels can also cause sudden mood swings and aggressive behavior.
I did a Google search on the effect of oxygen on aggressive behavior, and these are the results that Google returned to me.
Unfortunately, due to pollution, global warming, deforestation, industrialization, and how we have destroyed the earth with chemicals and building, our foods contain less oxygen than they used to in ancient times. Our air quality is pretty bad, and there is less oxygen in the air, so it is important to make sure that you and your loved ones get adequate amounts of oxygen to help manage mental illness, to help prevent mental illness for future generations, and for human survival, longevity, and healthy living.
If you believe that you or a loved one is showing signs of low oxygen levels, you can contact Barbara Frank (301-297-3909, barbara_20815@hotmail.com) for wellness coaching and information on how to naturally improve oxygen levels for better health and mental illness management.
Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies In Mental Illness
Generally when people get diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder they are put in therapy. Any therapist worth their grain in salt will put their patient on vitamin therapy if that patient has been diagnosed with any learning, psychiatric, or psychotic disorder because every human being, whether they have any mental disorders or not, needs vitamins. Our food does not contain enough nourishment like it used to pre-industrialization. So, in order to have a healthy child as much as possible, it is important to take vitamins. This is why doctors prescribe pregnant women vitamins all throughout their pregnancy. Without vitamins, a newborn is much more likely to develop a vitamin deficiency. How negative the side effects of that deficiency will depend upon the person’s diet and lifestyle habits.
Research has found that the vitamin deficiencies that people with schizophrenia tend to have are vitamin D and vitamin B deficiencies.
The foods that contain large amounts of vitamin D and B are: Fruits, nuts (never eat raw nuts because these have too many parasites and bacteria in them. Only eat roasted nuts. You want to improve your symptoms and not potentially make them worse by adding new bacterial infections into your body from raw nuts), dairy (milk and eggs), mushrooms, fish and rice.
Meat and chicken contain a lot of vitamin B, so protein and dairy are especially important to include in your diet if you or your loved one has schizophrenia.
I did a Google search of the vitamin deficiencies in Schizophrenia, and these are the results that Google returned to me.
Rupa Health published an article written by Dr. Kate Kresge in February 2022 called “6 Common Nutrient Deficiencies Linked to ADHD”. In this article, Dr. Kresge talks about vitamin D (the same as in schizophrenia), iron, magnesium, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acid nutrient deficiencies in many people with ADHD, along with excess heavy metals in their bodies and hormone imbalances.
I did a Google search on heavy metals and mental illness, and these are the results that Google returned to me.
The most common ways people get excess heavy metals in their body is from eating excess amounts of fish, drinking water contaminated with heavy metals like tap water, and from exposure to construction.
Think of arsenic as an acid that slowly eats away at your brain over time, eating neurons and causing malfunction. So, if you drink a lot of tap water, it is very risky for your mental health. You should stop drinking tap water, and instead, buy purified spring water in stores. You can also put a water filter on your faucets to filter out the heavy metals in the tap water so it becomes safer to drink.
Issues like the tap water are where you can see the impact of poverty and education on mental illness. If your family can’t afford to buy food and water, they will drink tap water because it is free and easily accessible. It also takes knowledge, learning, and education to know these things about diet, nutrition, and health. Without this knowledge, you are at much greater risk of physical health abnormalities and mental illness.
If you believe that you or a loved one is having a vitamin or mineral deficiency, has high levels of heavy metals in their bloodstream, or is showing signs of hormonal imbalance, you can contact Barbara Frank (301-297-3909, barbara_20815@hotmail.com) for wellness coaching. Parasitic Infections Linked To Mental Illness, Learning Disabilities, and Impairment
It is clear that low oxygen levels, excessive amounts of heavy metals in the body, and vitamin and mineral deficiencies are connected to the development and advancement of mental illness, but did you know that heavy infestations of parasites and bacteria can also lead to mental illness?
I did a Google search on the parasites that are linked to mental illness, and these are the results that Google returned to me.
Whenever the body is overwhelmed by parasites and bacteria, there will be imbalances in the body and disease. The human body can protect itself against some foreign invaders, but not as many as you might think. The human body is actually quite weak and susceptible to bacteria and parasites, and once these germs overwhelm the body, we will have to continually do things to remove them to manage the symptoms they cause, to help return the body to normal or close to normal functioning, and to help remove or disable the disease that resulted from the bacterial, parasitic infection.
One of the most common mental disorders is ADHD. I constantly meet people with ADHD while I am out and about. Some have less symptoms than others. How well these individuals can manage their ADHD and handle social situations and their different moods and states can depend upon the source of their ADHD. If their ADHD is the result of a parasitic infection, then the extend and severity of that infection can impact their symptoms. The parasite that has been linked to ADHD is called Toxoplasma gondii/toxoplasmosis.
I did a Google search on the parasites that are linked to ADHD, and these are the results that Google returned to me.
Toxoplasmosis is a disease that Barbara Frank talked about a lot on her YouTube Channel. Toxoplasmosis is a disease that is zoonotic, which means that it can pass between humans and animals and vice versa. Toxoplasmosis in humans most commonly occurs from cats, but it can occur from many other animals as well, such as dogs and pigs. Basically, any animal that may eat feces or that can come in contact with feces (such as when cats lick their butt to clean themselves or dogs sniff another dog’s butt), can spread toxoplasmosis to their human pet owners and to other animals.
I did a Google search on the animals that most commonly carry toxoplasmosis/Toxoplasma gondii, and these are the results that Google returned to me.
Based on the animals that are most likely to have toxoplasmosis, you can identify the individuals most at risk for this parasitic infection: Human owners of cats (especially feral cats that live outside and have contact with their human family), people living in unsanitary conditions or in buildings with a large rat population like some of the apartment buildings in DC, farmers and their family members and helpers, people who work in zoos, and families that regularly go to petting zoos.
Petting zoos have been a hot topic in recent years and many have closed due to bacterial infections and parasitic outbreaks in them, so it is not recommended to take you or your children to petting zoos. It is important to remember that if bacteria or parasites get into your brain through your bloodstream, you can develop any number of symptoms, mental diseases or disorders, so prevention is, and always will be, the best medicine.
If you believe that you have come in contact with the toxoplasmosis parasite from physical contact with your pet, contact with an animal or another person’s pet, or from a trip to a zoo or petting zoo, contact Barbara Frank (301-297-3909, barbara_20815@hotmail.com) for wellness coaching, information about how these parasites are treated today, the options available to you right now, and ways to avoid reinfection of toxoplasmosis in the future.
Causes of Depression
Depression is one of those mental states that can be caused by many different factors, so it is fairly easy for people to feel depressed at different times throughout their lives.

The Most Common Causes of Depression
- Not eating protein or not eating enough protein – Amino acids are important for brain function, and protein contains a lot of amino acids. Earlier we talked about how neurotransmitters affect mental health, and protein is part of the human brain process that makes neurotransmitters in the brain. Neurotransmitters are how we can feel happy because these include dopamine and serotonin. So if you do not eat enough protein or you don’t eat it at all, it can reduce the amount of these neurotransmitters that are produced in the brain, which will cause you to feel less happy and more likely to experience depression.
2. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies
3. Parasites and bacteria entering the brain, such as Toxoplasma gondii, can cause brain cells and neurons to die, which will cause mental problems
4. Too much stress
5. Hormonal imbalance
