I started shopping for nail polishes at Claire’s and Five Below stores since they have many nail polish sets that are inexpensive and great to give as gifts. I tried several of their nail polishes and love them! The quality is very good. The nail polishes I tried dried fast, and there was a huge color range to choose from, from matte, neon, to glitter nail polishes. So, I went back again recently and got several more nail polishes from these two stores to review here on this site.
Today, I will swatch and review two of the nail polishes that I picked up: These are the L.A. Colors Color Craze Gel-Like Nail Polishes that I purchased from Five Below. The first color I will review is called Envy.
L.A. Colors Color Craze Gel-Like Polish In The Color Envy
This is a high shine deep sea-green nail polish with flecks of glitter in it.
This nail polish does not have a watery formula and it is not streaky. This nail polish went on easily and it was very smooth to apply. This nail polish also dried fast, which is something I always look for in good-quality nail polishes. I did need to apply two coats of this nail polish in order to get the kind of full pigmentation/opacity that I wanted.
Here is how this nail polish looked on my nails without a top coat:
This nail polish is a pastel light green color that is perfect for summer and spring 💐. This nail polish has a lot of shine, but there are no flecks of glitter in it.
I do not know what it is about this color, but I absolutely love it! This color just looks so good on my skin tone, so I wear it a lot. Like the previous color, it also dries fast, but there are a few issues with this nail polish. The first issue is that the formula is watery and can become streaky if you do not apply enough of the nail polish.
The watery formula makes this nail polish harder to apply; it can also make your manicure look less neat and perfect; a watery formula also makes the nail polish move around more while applying it so the polish can easily get on the sides of your nail on your skin. This will result in more clean up time for you around your nails after you finish applying your nail polish.
Here is what this polish looks like on my nails:
Lastly, I do not recommend this nail polish for people with peeling nails. Although some nail polishes will cover up peeling, this one will not. I recently hurt my thumb on my right hand, so some of the nail on that nail peeled off. This nail polish showed that imperfection on my nail, rather than smooth it over and cover it up. So, this nail polish will settle into problem areas on your nails. You can see this issue here:
I wore both of these nail polishes for four days without a top coat to see how well they would hold up. In my opinion, you can really tell the quality of a nail polish by how well it holds up without a top coat. This is how well these nail polishes looked after four days of wear without a top coat:
There was definitely chipping as the days passed, but overall, I feel that these nail polishes held up pretty well without a top coat. If these nail polishes held up this well without a top coat, then your manicure should last at least 5-7 days with a top coat, which is pretty good in my opinion 😉.
Final Thoughts
I love both of these L.A. Colors Color Craze Gel-Like nail polishes, but the Envy shade is definitely easier to use and I got a smoother, more perfect finish with it. Thus, I think that the Envy shade is a great nail polish for beginners.
The Rockin’ It shade is unique and really stands out, but it is harder to use and apply, so I think that some people may not become a fan of this nail polish.
Both of the L.A. Colors Color Craze Gel-Like nail polishes are great though for those who want a gel-like manicure without the hassle or health risks associated with using a UV light to curate their nail polish. Furthermore, these nail polishes are great summer and spring shades 💮. The Envy shade could even be worn during the Christmas holiday 🎅. So, although the Rockin’ It shade may not suit some people, I still do recommend trying the Envy shade ♡.
