Hello everyone! I bought some new kajal eyeliners to try out. I use kajal eyeliners for various tasks, from filling in my eyebrows and making them dark, to tightlining my eyes and applying eyeliner. So, kajal eyeliners are a regular part of my makeup routine. I love wearing them and trying out new ones, so this time, I bought the Elle 18 Kajal eyeliner in the color Bold Black to review for you all today.
Cost: Kajal eyeliners cost between $5-$10, depending on the brand, and where you buy it. We sell kajal eyeliners in our beauty store here on eBay.
Amount of Product: 0.35 grams.
Ingredients: There was no ingredient list for this kajal, but kajals are generally made with herbal natural formulas so that they are safer for those with sensitive eyes like more. Common ingredients in kajal eyeliners are castor oil and almond oil. Like all the kajals that I have tried before, this one did not bother my eyes at all.
Packaging: Most Indian kajal brands keep the packaging very simple, but Elle 18 makes their packaging stand out from the rest by being very feminine in appearance with a female’s face as the product design. This design is simple but very cute. This is something that I like about Elle 18, after all, I am always a sucker for cute packaging.
Brand Promises: Elle 18 promises that this kajal eyeliner will last all day; that it will apply smoothly, and that it will be smudge-proof and waterproof.
Swatch
This kajal eyeliner is an auto-retractable liner, so you do not have to sharpen it, which is great! Many kajal eyeliners are like this thank goodness. Sharpening an eyeliner can make the wood too hard and sharp so that it cuts the skin on the eye; it can also make makeup application take longer since you will likely have to stop to resharpen it before your makeup is finished. Thus, I prefer auto liners or ones that are in a stick form that does not have to be sharpened.
How This Kajal Looks On The Eyes Alone and With Eyeshadow
Review
Pigmentation: This kajal is a very nice dark pigmented black, so it will make your eyes stand out nicely.
Application: This kajal applied smoothly and easily to my eyes; I was even able to apply it to my waterline without any problems.
Smudgeproof: This kajal is not smudge-proof. Once you touch the liner, it will smudge. Most brands claim to be smudge-proof, but I rarely come across any that actually are.
Waterproof: This kajal is not waterproof. Once you get it wet, it starts to fade in patches. Then, once you touch it, even after it has had time to fully dry, it will completely start to rub off in the area that was touched.
Removal: This kajal is harder to remove. I had to either wash my eye area twice with oil to remove it, or I had to use a makeup remover wipe, and then wash the eye area with oil to remove it. So, this kajal does adhere well to the eyes, so that it is not easily removed; as a result, it will stay on your eyes for hours throughout the day.
Final Thoughts
I like this Elle 18 kajal. It did not move around on my eyes while I was applying makeup, so this made it easy and fast to apply. The liner went onto my eyes smoothly without tugging on the lid; it went on easily in the waterline, and it is dark and pigmented, so I am happy with this kajal, and I think that it is a great quality kajal.
SECRET BEAUTY TIP: Whenever I want my eyeliner to smudge as little as possible, I always apply a natural organic baby powder or mineral setting powder to a makeup sponge, and then I apply that powder directly on top of my liner. This makes the liner set and move around much less throughout the day. Fortunately, kajals are so dark in color, that even with white baby powder on top of them, they are still quite pigmented. When I want the liner to be even darker, I apply black eyeshadow on top of the liner set with powder, which helps reduce and prevent smudging even more.
