Makeup Cosmetic Product Review: Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish Foundation

Hello everyone! I will be reviewing a liquid foundation today. The makeup product I will review today is the: Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish Foundation in the shade 90 Honey Beige.

Cost: Under $10, depending on where you buy it, so it is an inexpensive foundation.

The newest updated version of the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish Foundation is the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation + Hydrating Serum. This new version of this foundation is formulated with hyaluronic acid to help keep your skin moisturized all day long for 12 or 16 hours.

Maybelline promises that this airbrush foundation will give you a completely poreless, smooth, airbrushed finish. This airbrush foundation is suppose to be lightweight, breathable on the skin, last on the skin for 16 hours, be cake-free, provide full coverage, moisturize your skin all day long, and be safe for sensitive skin.

Ingredients: This foundation has a small ingredient list of 15 ingredients. This small ingredient list is awesome and I give Maybelline a great big thumbs up 👍 for it. When a product is organic or natural, the more ingredients the better, but when a product is not organic or natural, I prefer a smaller ingredient list because people are less likely to have a negative reaction to it or be sensitive to it, so I consider this small ingredient list a huge benefit for this foundation.

Swatch: This Maybelline airbrush foundation is too light for my skin tone in the summer ☀ when I am darker, but in the wintertime ⛄ when my skin is lighter, this foundation matches me nicely.

Shade Range: This foundation has a decent shade range, but it is definitely not an ethnic-friendly foundation since there are 12 shades, and only 3 shades will suit women with darker more tan skin tones like mine. I don’t like when brands do this; it is too unfair and it is not a good representation of the variety of women that exist around the world from different cultures. You need more of a balanced shade range Maybelline. You are losing a lot of money by limiting your brand to mostly just light-skinned women 😣.

Does The Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish Foundation Do What It Promises?

I do feel that this foundation does almost all that it promises. This foundation:

1. Hid my pores.
2. Gave me a smooth, airbrushed finish.
3. Felt lightweight and breathable on the skin.
4. Lasted on my skin for hours. I wore this foundation for over 9 hours and it held up nicely. This foundation did not fade off of my face throughout the day, even though I did not set it with powder. So, even though I did not wear this foundation for 16 hours, I do believe it will last that long since it stayed in place the entire time I wore it.
5. Did not cake.
6. Made my skin look moisturized.
7. Did not bother my sensitive skin.

What The Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish Foundation Did Not Do For Me

This foundation is not full coverage. Perhaps it is because I have darker skin now and this foundation does not cater to many darker-skinned women. Regardless, I definitely was able to see a lot of the scars on my left cheek through the foundation. My left cheek is pretty much the only place on my face right now where I have hyperpigmentation, and the scars there were still a little noticeable, even after layering this foundation. However, these scars were far less noticeable with this foundation, so I do consider this to be a high coverage foundation. I did get close to full coverage, but I do still recommend wearing this foundation with concealer if you have a lot of hyperpigmentation and scarring.

How This Foundation Looks On The Skin

My Skin Type: I had normal skin since I was a child, but recently it has become oily.

Flashback/White Cast: No, there was no white cast or flashback when I took a picture with the flash while wearing this Maybelline airbrush foundation, despite that this foundation is lighter than my skin tone. Thus, this foundation is safe to wear when taking pictures.

Oily: No, this Maybelline foundation did not look oily on my skin.

Dark Circles: This foundation did reduce the appearance of dark circles underneath my eyes 👀, but not as much as other foundation products I have tried, so you will still need to wear concealer in the under eye area with this foundation.

Scent: This foundation does not have a perfume scent; it just has that typical clay smell that most foundations have.

Lines/Under Eye Area: The lines under my eyes were still noticeable while wearing this foundation, but this foundation did seem to moisturize the eye area and reduce the appearance of lines there. This foundation also did not settle into my smile lines.

Final Thoughts

This Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish Foundation is one of my favorite foundations because I absolutely love the finish that it gives me. This foundation makes my skin look so perfect, smooth, and airbrushed. The finish looks natural too, instead of mask-like. During the wintertime when my skin color matches this foundation, you can’t tell that I am wearing foundation; it just looks very natural and blends into the skin very well. When I wear this foundation, I often get compliments on my skin.

While wearing this foundation, I do recommend setting it with powder because where I touched my face throughout the day, the foundation did come off, so setting it in place with powder will help prevent this.

Even though this is a lightweight foundation on the skin, it has a thick consistency, so I did have issues with the foundation clogging in the pump. The pump no longer works for me, so I have to take off the top and put the foundation on my hand in order to get the product out now.

All in all, I honestly love this Maybelline airbrush foundation. I love the way it looks and feels on my skin. I wear this foundation several times a week, so I do feel that this is a good-quality foundation and I do highly recommend it.
