Hello everyone! With all the chaos going on in the world today, I have been simplifying my daily makeup routine. I have been opting for a simple BB cream, kajal liner, and eyeshadow. I have also been trying out some new kajal liners since I am going through them faster. One of the new kajal liners that I used recently is an organic one, which is the one that I will review for you today. This kajal is the Hemani Kajal Eyeliner in black. This is a natural, organic, and chemical-free eyeliner.
Cost: Kajal eyeliners cost between $3-$6, depending on where you buy them.
Ingredients: This kajal eyeliner has a simple ingredient list with less than ten ingredients.
Smell: This kajal liner does have a smell. It smells like incense.
Smudgeproof: This kajal is not smudge-proof.
Waterproof: When this kajal eyeliner gets wet, it runs like non-waterproof mascara, so it is not waterproof.
Application: This eyeliner did apply easily without tugging on my eyes, but it did not apply to the inner corner while wearing eyeshadow, so in the photo where I paired this eyeliner with eyeshadow, it is uneven and you can see the skin at the inner corner where the eyeliner would not apply. However, without eyeshadow, this kajal does adhere to the inner corner quite smoothly.
Color: The color of this kajal is really dark black and it is very pigmented when you apply it. However, the color fades greatly each time that you touch it to the point where there is eventually little pigmentation left. As this kajal fades, it will start to look brown instead of black, so this is not a very good quality eyeliner.
Despite the issues that I had with this kajal liner, I do like how it looks in terms of darkness both with and without eyeshadow. However, I would not likely ever wear this kajal again with eyeshadow since it does not apply to the inner corners well.
Removal: This eyeliner washes off easily with oil.
It is great that this is a natural and organic eyeliner, but it does not function the way that that it should as an eyeliner. In fact, you can only really wear this eyeliner if you wear it alone without eyeshadow, or if you apply eyeshadow after you apply it and then set it; doing this will make this kajal easier to use and more functional, so this kajal is okay. It is still definitely usable, but the quality is not the best given how it reacts with water and how difficult it is to apply at the inner corners, so I would not repurchase this kajal liner.
SECRET BEAUTY TIP: Whenever I want my eyeliner to smudge as little as possible, I always apply a mineral setting powder directly on top of my eyeliner. This makes the liner set and move around much less throughout the day. Fortunately, kajals are so dark in color, that even with white setting powder on top of them, they are still quite pigmented. However, when I want the liner to be even darker, I apply black eyeshadow on top of the liner set with powder, which helps reduce and prevent smudging even more.
