Your makeup is never done until your eyebrows are on point, but there are so many options out there for eyebrow shaping, so which one is best? Which one is the most effective? Tweezers, eyebrow shapers, or threading? Let’s start with tweezers.
Tweezers/Tweezing Hair Removal
I know many people use tweezers, but I have never been a fan of them for eyebrow shaping. In fact, I rarely use tweezers in general in my daily life, but they are good if you have one hair or a few hairs that are out of place or stick out oddly and poke your eye. Furthermore, it is easy to pick up a pair of tweezers and start shaping your brows with them because you do not have to worry about removing too many hairs when you pluck one at a time with a pair of tweezers. You also do not need any experience to use tweezers.
The downside to using tweezers is that they often miss really tiny baby hairs; it is for this reason that eyebrow threading is so popular. One new feature that tweezers have is that you can now buy tweezers that have an LED light attached to them. This makes it easier to see and reach those really small baby hairs. However, stainless steel is thick, so it can still be hard to pluck those small hairs, even if we are able to see them better. We also must consider pain level when choosing a hair removal method. Tweezing hurts, which is also why I avoid it, but tweezing hurts less than some other forms of hair remover, such as waxing.
A cool thing about tweezers though is that they come in such cute designs these days. If you are like me and love cute things, this does make using tweezers more appealing.
Eyebrow Shaper To Shape Brows
Eyebrow shapers are what I use to shape my eyebrows. I like eyebrow shapers because they are painless to use, but they are definitely not for everyone. The first few times I used an eyebrow shaper, I removed too much hair by accident and had to wait a while for the hairs to grow back. Using an eyebrow shaper also takes me 20-25 minutes because it is a bit tricky to get both eyebrows even; it is also easy to remove too much hair trying to get them even, so I do not recommend eyebrow shaping for beginners.
Eyebrow Threading For Shaping
Eyebrow threading is where you go in to have someone use a very thin, fine thread to shape your eyebrows. The thread is so fine and thin that it does not hurt, and it removes even very small baby hairs. It is easier to get your eyebrows shaped using eyebrow threading the first time because after that, you will just be doing basic maintenance to your eyebrows at home since eyebrow threading shapes the brows for a much longer period of time than plucking or using tweezers does. You can use how your eyebrows were shaped as a guide for future trimmings at home as well as your hairs start to grow back in.
With eyebrow threading, you will need to have an idea, or know which eyebrow shape you want for your brows before you go in to have them professionally shaped. The person who shapes your brows will ask you your preferences. Of course, you could leave it up to the shaper, and your brows will still likely come out great. However, if you are picky about the appearance of your eyebrows, then you should guide the shaper so that your brows come out as you expect and you are not disappointed.
Conclusion
Most people use both tweezers and eyebrow shapers the most to shape their eyebrows themselves at home. Since eyebrow shaping does require some experience and practice, I do not recommend doing it yourself the first few times. Gradually, as you get more comfortable with your eyebrows, you should try doing it yourself slowly using an eyebrow shaper. I do highly recommend eyebrow shaping over all the other methods that people use to shape their brows because it is cost effective, convenient since you do not have to go out to get it done, and it works well.
Tips For Eyebrow Shaping and Hair Removal
When you are at home shaping your own eyebrows, here are some important rules to follow:
- Clean your tweezers and eyebrow shaper regularly after each use because germs can grow on them that can cause you problems later on, such as making it difficult to grow your eyebrows out, causing bumps or rashes to develop on or around your eyebrows, and causing itching around them.
- Make sure that your tweezer or eyebrow shaper is made of stainless steel or titanium because these metals are easier to clean and more resistant to growing bacteria and germs.
- After shaping your eyebrows, it is a good idea to apply an astringent and a moisturizer to them afterwards.
