2019 Christmas Dinner Celebrations – Food For The Holidays

Hello everyone! How was your Christmas this year? I actually relaxed and had a quiet Christmas this time. I originally planned to sit at home and watch Christmas holiday movies while drinking hot chocolate and spiked coffees. Last-minute though, my roommate and I decided to go out to eat for the holiday. For the first time, almost every restaurant that we called was closed for the holiday. Very few restaurants were open this year.

In previous years, numerous restaurants were open on Christmas Day, and they offered a traditional Christmas dinner. This year though, it seems that almost every restaurant was closed and employees took off for the holiday. Some restaurants that were open, were not serving Christmas dinner. They only had the regular restaurant menu.

In the end, we called around to restaurants for about an hour, and then finally, my roommate found a place that was open and serving Christmas dinner. The place that she found was called Georgia Brown. This restaurant is located in DC, and this would be our first time eating there. Though it was the only restaurant open, I was glad that we tried it! The food was very fresh, and the desserts were excellent and rich as well!

Georgia Brown’s had a limited menu for the holiday and it was quite expensive for Christmas dinner. Holiday dinner there costs $60 per person. Georgia Brown’s is a Southern-style restaurant, so you can get fresh well-done food.

For Christmas dinner, you could choose 1 appetizer, 1 entree, and 1 dessert. I chose the shrimp soup for my appetizer. For my entree, I chose the roasted turkey Christmas dinner that came with stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans, and gravy. For dessert, I chose the chocolate peppermint cake.

My roommate ordered the roasted turkey for dinner also. Her appetizer was crispy chicken livers, and for dessert, she chose cheesecake

In addition to these items, Georgia Brown’s also had mixed greens, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, salad, sweet-flavored Southern-style tea, and a dessert cobbler to choose from on their holiday menu. It was hard to turn down the cobbler, but you could only get one dessert, so I decided to go for something rich and with chocolate šŸ˜‹!

I liked everything that I ordered, but I did not like my roommate’s crispy chicken livers. Yuck šŸ˜£! Everything else I loved! The food was great, especially the desserts and the Christmas dinner, so I did enjoy this holiday dinner. This year turned out to be a great relaxing peaceful Christmas šŸ’›.

How was your Christmas this year? Did you do anything special?
